Grand National 2025 Betting Predictions

Ahead of the big race Grand National 2025 betting predictions will intensify. Below is a broad Grand National 2025 betting guide with tips not only on which horses to back, but also how to bet on 2025 Grand National and where to bet on the Grand National, with regards to the best bookmaker and offers. We've also produced a comprehensive preview, along with our own predictions and a look at some of the race's trends. Currently, Inothewayurthinkin 4/1 (5.00) leads the way in the Grand National betting odds.

1. Grand National Betting Preview

The Grand National steeplechase is one of the most prominent annual sporting events in the UK calendar. This handicap horse race is competed over a marathon distance of more than 4 miles, with 30 demanding fences of varying height and drop, which include the likes of Becher's Brook, The Chair, and the Canal Turn, each presenting their own individual challenges.

This year's race will take place on 5 April at the famous Aintree course in Liverpool, with 34 horses taking to the start line. That's a reduction from what was a cut-off of 40 entries, allowing the best horses to show their class in the latter part of the race.

The final line-up won't be decided until two days before the off, so any Grand National prediction made in advance needs to be done with a degree of caution. The once-a-year punter who places a wager based on the name of the horse, or the colours worn by the jockey, will be out in force again alongside the experienced form-studying gamblers.

One almost certain runner will be last year's winner I Am Maximus, but he'll be carrying a much greater weight and is therefore unlikely to start as favourite, as the field chases a total prize pot of £1m, with a whopping £500,000 for the winning connections. The National is a real test of stamina and also challenges the skills of the jockey to their maximum, but of equal need is a huge amount of luck.

Currently, Inothewayurthinkin 4/1 (5.00) leads the way in the 2025 Grand National betting odds, followed by Intense Raffles at 8/1 (9.00) and then Iroko at a very attractive 12/1 (13.00). Last year's winner I Am Maximus 14/1 (15.00) is not proving as popular this time around, but there's good interest in Stumptown 14/1 (15.00), Meetingofthewaters 16/1 (17.00), Nick Rockett and Kandoo Kid both at 20/1 (21.00). Beauport at 33/1 (34.00) looks a very tempting each-way option. Use our 1win promo code 2025 to bet on horse racing with the latest bonuses.

3. Grand National Betting Tips

In this race of such a big field, making Grand National betting tips is always a tricky affair. Ultimately, proven stamina and comfort on any ground are key indicators. Class does come into it and there's several in this year's race who have it in abundance, none more so that the recent Cheltenham Gold Cup winner, Inothewayurthinkin, a JP McManus-owned chaser who looked a superstar when crushing Galopin Des Champs' attempt at a three-timer in that race. He'll almost certainly go off favourite and for good reason.

Stumptown is a genuine each-way option, as are Beauport - who is an out and out stayer - and Nick Rocket, who is very much in the progressive bracket. Grangeclare West will definitely have plenty of support and L'Homme Presse is rarely out of the first four in his races. Monty's Star has some undoubted star-quality and if able to produce best form, has to be in with a shout. Hewick might not be the biggest of horses, but has a huge heart and if he gets the ground he likes, he too could go very close.

Perceval Legallois has an excellent profile and is likely to feature in many expert picks for 2025 Grand National betting, but Iroko is one that really catches the eye, along with Kandoo Kid who is lightly raced and the pick of the Paul Nicholls yard entries this year, with the likelihood of top jockey Harry Cobden being onboard an additional bonus. Intense Raffles is a powerful grey who won last year's Irish National and his team have been protecting him from the handicapper, so looks to have a great chance.

Meetingofthewaters faded after being in contention last year, so that raises an obvious question mark, but he could be nicely handicapped to give this a really good go. Horantzau D'Airy is one of leading trainer Willie Mullins' many entries and is potentially an interesting sort, who dropped back in trip last time out, possibly to protect his handicap mark.

Hyland is a safe jumping grey, who loves good ground so he'd not want it wet, but even though he's still a novice, this could be a great time to catch him with recent history showing that the race is increasingly won by horses on the up. King Turgeon may not make the cut of the final 34, but should he sneak in, then he looks capable of a big race and should give punters a great run with place claims.

4. Grand National Betting Trends

Many gamblers will like to look at certain Grand National betting trends when trying to find that edge to beat the bookmaker and land the winner. It's likely that experienced tipsters will base their Grand National betting tips around information collated from past National races.

The majority of the recent Grand National winners had their previous race no more than 55 days prior to the big day, with 29 of the last 30 winners falling into that category. Other trends that prove popular to look for include: winning before over at least three miles; a win between four and six times over fences previously; finishes in the top 4 on their last time out; and having a run at the Cheltenham Festival.

5. Grand National Prediction

It'd be unwise to ignore the credentials of Inothewayurthinkin after his hugely impressive victory at Cheltenham and there's little doubt that he'll be one of the top picks for 2025 Grand National betting. However, that race will probably have taken a great deal out of him and it might be that he just runs out of steam over the gruelling course. Speaking about the chances of inothewayurthinkin's chances of running in the Grand National, JP McManus had this to say:

We'll savour today and see. The Gold Cup is a tough race and I have to look at what would be fair to the horse. I'll see what Gavin says, but don't expect a decision in the next week. - JP McManus, RacingPost

It's also hard to see last year's champion having things quite so much his own way this time around and therefore, a better Grand National prediction might be concentrated on the likes of Intense Raffles, Kandoo Kid, Iroko and Beauport.

Intense Raffles has put in some supremely impressive performances over the past 12 months and seems to have been trained all season with this race in mind. He travels well and has speed at the finish to compliment his undoubted stamina.

Kandoo Kid has plenty of miles still left in the tank considering he is 9-years-old and has proven to be at his best when fresh - this race will only be his second of the season. Iroko is another who has been aimed at the big race and has that touch of class to set him aside from the rest. His jumping is exceptional and has proven his liking for the course with placings in both his previous outings there.

Perceval Legallois and Nick Rocket both look ideal horses for the trip, with the latter especially known to have been bred to stay all day long. If looking for a runner with the best each-way terms for The Grand National 2025, then Beauport has a lot going for him. He is another proven stayer over both fast and heavy ground, jumps for fun and is currently a cracking price, making him a very attractive prospect.
